ADF attorneys filed suit after school officials barred Andrew Raker from distributing pro-life leaflets outside of class time during the school day after he had participated in the Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity last October. read more...

Officials at Southern Illinois University responded quickly to a demand letter sent from the Alliance Defense Fund Center for Academic Freedom requesting that graduate student Christine Mize’s final research project be graded fairly and promptly. Mize had been in a holding position since December 2006, when a professor refused to grade her final paper after Mize mentioned that her initial project contained religious material. read more...

ADF attorneys backing a middle school student barred from expressing pro-life views on campus have reached an agreement with school district officials. In an agreement ratified by the federal court, school officials must permit the student to wear expressive pro-life clothing and distribute pro-life leaflets to his classmates on a day near Jan. 22, the anniversary of the Roe v. A federal appeals court today upheld the dismissal of a lawsuit brought by a pro-abortion group challenging the “Weldon Amendment.” The Weldon Amendment is a federal statute that prohibits the federal government or state and local governments receiving certain federal aid from discriminating against medical professionals who refuse to perform or refer for abortions. read more...

Maryland high school officials drop ban on campus pro-life speech - 10.10.06

After involvement by attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund, a student banned from promoting a pro-life event on her high school campus is no longer being denied her free speech rights. Officials at Northeast Senior High School had informed the student that she would not be permitted to distribute and post flyers announcing the “Day of Silent Solidarity,” a student-led event designed to heighten awareness about the number of babies aborted each year. read more...

“Is a baby there yet?” Doctors must truthfully answer - 4.10.06

A three-judge New Jersey appeals court panel agreed unanimously Friday that doctors must inform a pregnant woman of all relevant information regarding her unborn child when she contemplates getting an abortion. The question arose after a New Jersey abortionist told Rosa Acuna that her first-trimester fetus was not a human being. The child was subsequently aborted, and Acuna filed suit with funding support from ADF. read more...
