“Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders You have done, and the plans You have for us—none can compare to You—if I would proclaim and declare of them, they are more than could be numbered.” (Psalm 40:5)Every day brings challenges into our lives even if we are doing the same things over and over again. There are no two days that are identical and each one brings opportunities to improve or challenge everything in our lives. The choice is ours. The beautiful part of it all is that God has already provided what we need to overcome any and all obstacles that try our lives.
If you believe in the God of the Bible, you understand the past and the present and how everything is under his control because he is in charge of history. Using that as an indication, you have nothing to fear or to be pessimistic about for this coming new year.
Why do I say that? Because flipping the page of a calendar makes no difference to God and the plan he is allowing to unfold on earth. God is not deterred by human events when it comes to his masterplan for earth and humanity. God never dies, he is never at a loss for knowledge, he never loses strength, is never discouraged, he never despairs or is not able to find a recourse to continue carrying out his will on earth as it is in heaven. When we know these things about God, there is no room for pessimism, doubt, despondency or thinking that we have arrived at a dead end on anything. Remember that about God as you face the challenges this new year will bring. Always trust him and he will deliver the blessings of his promises as you walk in obedience to his standards for living.
Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.” Nothing in the entire universe or on earth is out of God’s jurisdiction and he has total control of it all. Nothing happens in all of his creation that he is not aware of it and has the perfect answer and course of action for according to his divine plan. God is aware of all that is going on and nothing takes him by surprise or catches him unaware. He is the traffic controller, so to speak, of all of his creation. He knows about you and me and what our entire life entails, what we are going through, and what lies ahead in our future and the future of the world. Face the challenges head on that will develop character in you, with God’s help. Challenges will come but be encouraged.
“I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.'” (Zechariah 13:9) Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. (Psalm 40:5)
