Christians Are Awakening

The increase of concerning events is confronting Christians and jolting their conscience into the realization that leaves no doubt about the war against Christianity.

All across the nation, there are massive, medium and small calls to prayer to intercede before the Heavenly Father asking for forgiveness for our national sins and to restore his ways throughout the land.

This move is great news, and the enemy does not like it in the least when God’s people turn their hearts and minds to intercession. I know this through personal experience of the mighty power that prayer unleashes on a nation regardless of the continent or how corrupt the culture may be.

I also know that when we are determined to stand in the gap interceding before God on behalf of this nation, which has gone spiritually bankrupt like old Israel, it comes with a price. Rest assured that no price is too high to pay to liberate America from the harassment imposed on her by those who hate God’s moral absolutes.

We must never fear what men can do to us. We must only fear the One to whom we are to give an account to, and that is the One who gave us our new creation and fullness of life in Christ Jesus. We are called to make the difference, be it small or great, and what truly counts before God Almighty is how we use the resources that He has given to us.

Approximately 2,700 years ago, God sent the prophet Isaiah to the Jewish nation as a social reformer, to call the people to repentance and to return back to the true God. He reminded them of God’s mercy and forgiveness. However, if they persisted in their rebellion against his moral law, they could only expect God’s judgment and wrath against the unrepentant.

“According to their deeds, accordingly He will repay, fury to His adversaries, recompense to His enemies; the coastlands He will fully repay. So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him…. ‘As for Me,’ says the Lord, ‘this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,’ says the Lord, ‘from this time and forevermore.’” Isaiah 59:18-19, 21 (NKJV)

During colonial times, in the First Great Awakening of the early 18th century, there was a spiritual renewal when Christians realized the despicable spiritual condition they were falling into. Prayer and repentance were the motivational factors to turn things around; teaching of God’s moral law followed with the importance of living God’s will.

This awakening prepared the colonists to rebel against the tyranny of the British King and his Parliament. They saw no other alternative if they were to be free people; this compelled them to declare independence in order to keep their God-given rights that came not from the will of man but of God. This boldness to confront religious and political authority came during this all-important spiritual awakening. The colonists gained understanding from the Scriptures, which provided the biblical worldview and made them aware that every believer is responsible for their Christian faith rather than what the institutionalized Church of England dictated. For decades, the colonial pulpits were also teaching that political power was not to be dictated by an earthly king and that there is only one King and his name is Jesus. Coming to this realization, the colonists understood that self-governance is what God expects from his people. Next time, you read the Declaration of Independence it will give you a better understanding of what brought about the American Revolution.

Christians in America must continue to increase their prayers before God 24 hours a day, not just for special events. Only then we can expect another desperately needed awakening to lead us to a greater biblical Reformation than the one of 1517 and with far-reaching worldwide results.

Let us be prepared and willing to respond and invest our financial resources, our sacred honor and our lives in like manner and conviction and be willing to be the answer to those prayers. Biblical Reformation is the only key to restoring America and the nations.
