Cleaning Up the Mess After Elections

Ramon Arias | November 5, 2014

Having endured the campaign bombardment of lies, half-truths, and myths, casting our vote should not give us a sense of relief. Sadly, this election reminded us only too clearly of the deplorable condition of the nation.

Even after the election we still face a broken society fragmented by division and at the brink of collapse. We must not think for a moment that we have fulfilled our entire commitment merely by voting, far from it. This was only the beginning. Now we must get involved like never before in restoring the Union by continuing to work with every elected official. They must not get the idea that they are free to do as they please. Just like they depended upon our support to be elected so it must continue during the duration of their term.  They work for us and we must not leave them unchecked.

We have to be grateful to those on the Left, also known as liberals, progressives and the politically correct crowd, who do their best to hide their true agenda of Democratic Socialism; this is no different than Nationalist Socialism, which is identical to Marxist Socialism.  These agendas have revealed to us the damage they have done to the present and future generations. They reminded us that it is “We the people” who voted them into office and allowed them to grow bigger and stronger intoxicating themselves with the idea that we are a bunch of useful idiots that will gladly accept them to be in charge of our lives. We are also grateful to the Left for waking up a large part of the Christian community from their political and cultural slumber. Christians are realizing that there is an agenda to destroy biblical Christianity and it is no longer a myth.

Albert Einstein, stated an unchangeable truth, which is more revealing than his scientific discoveries, he said: “The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.”

Even the most ungodly individual recognizes the nature, influence and destruction of evil. People manifest different aspects of evil because it comes natural; it is part of the sinful nature that wars within. The first fratricide was recorded a little over six thousand years ago when Cain killed his brother Abel (Genesis 4). Why did Cain kill his brother?  In 1 John 3:12, we read: We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous.”

Throughout human history the battle has always been between good and evil. Even so, we must not be deceived into thinking that evil is unbeatable; rather we must define what side we are on. The following quote is attributed to British philosopher Edmund Burke (1729-1797): “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”  A question comes to mind; can good people be good if they do nothing to stop evil? James answered the question when he wrote to Christians two thousand years ago: So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin” (James 4:17).

Who can better understand how to do the right thing other than God’s redeemed people? No one understands this better than those who have experienced redemption and healing from the devastation of evil. We are called to do good works here and now; for this reason we have been chosen to be saved from the grip of the evil one. “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light”, 1 Peter 2:9.

Heaven is not waiting for us to confront evil once we get there. There is a simple reason for that; evil does not dwell in heaven. Earth is where evil must be confronted and defeated in all areas of life. There are those who are looking for a way out of the control of a meaningless and purposeless life.  Others could care less thinking they can live without God’s plan of salvation. It is their choice, what is not their choice is to impose their evil ways as a life style. Evil has never been good for humanity and this is where God’s people are commanded to step in to change things and make them according to His will.

America is spiritually and morally bankrupt, this is the reason evil is rampant throughout the land. God’s principles are the foundation of this land and betraying those principles demand the wrath of God.

Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 B.C.) saw the death of the Roman Republic. For not having God’s knowledge, he had a good understanding of the importance for good people to be at the helm of culture. He also understood the deadly influence of traitors to good principles:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”

The biblical pillars of America can only survive if Christians are pro-active in destroying the culture of death and depravation and restoring it to the righteousness of God; there is no other alternative.

“The hope of a Christian is inseparable from his faith. Whoever believes in the Divine inspiration of the Holy Scriptures must hope that the religion of Jesus shall prevail throughout the earth. Never since the foundation of the world have the prospects of mankind been more encouraging to that hope than they appear to be at the present time. And may the associated distribution of the Bible proceed and prosper until the Lord shall have made ‘bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God’” [Isaiah 52:10]. – John Quincy Adams

“I conceive we cannot better express ourselves than by humbly supplicating the Supreme Ruler of the world . . . that the confusions that are and have been among the nations may be overruled by the promoting and speedily bringing in the holy and happy period when the kingdoms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ may be everywhere established, and the people willingly bow to the scepter of Him who is the Prince of Peace. – Samuel Adams

Who are we to believe, the ones who want to lead us away from God’s principles or those who understood them? For too long America has followed the wrong voices who lead her to the pit of destruction with lies. Now is the time to roll up our sleeves, raise our voices and lead under the Holy Spirit’s direction as we determine to clean up this generational mess; we must not allow the next one to curse us for not doing our job.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10

“Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21

“You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:48

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.” Ephesians 5:1

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet” Matthew 5:13
