Donald Trump made a wise decision in cancelling his Chicago rally to avoid a violent confrontation between his supporters and those who invaded the meeting with the intentions of provoking chaos.
Celebrations erupted among the protesters, as expected. I understand this is a trademark in Chicago, which has a strong left-leaning foundation. However, it is quite another thing to trample on the rights of individuals that peacefully gather to hear a presidential candidate put forth his platform. Both camps have the right to express themselves in a proper and orderly way concerning their opposing views. There is a time and place for everything, except violence.
It is no surprise that the left-leaning media immediately sided with the protesters justifying their actions. Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders wasted no time in condemning Trump and not the boisterous protesters. Then the Hollywood left chimed in with their barrage of condemnation, there are no surprises there either.
Am I defending Donald Trump? Not at all, I’m defending the freedom of speech, which is a human right that very few nations enjoy. I’m aware that Donald Trump has said inappropriate remarks against those who disrupt his speech at different locations—this is totally unacceptable.
Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and John Kasich joined the choir in condemnation against Trump—at the moment of writing this—I have not yet heard them give the proper perspective of defending the First Amendment that cherishes the freedom of expression. Neither have they condemned the well-orchestrated disruption of the rally by the leftist organizations.
The significant loss of freedom of speech in public schools, colleges and universities should be of great concern. Biblical and conservative values are attacked continually and viciously because they expose the failed and bloody Marxist ideology—which is the indoctrination that has taken place in this country for a long time. No longer is critical thinking taught to help individuals arrive at the truth in all matters; therefore, it is no surprise to see how easily people are manipulated to carryout the dirty work of the elites.
In his notes on the State of Virginia Query 18 [1781-1785], Thomas Jefferson said: “It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.” Error is what people are taught at all levels of society; this is the reason truth is always attacked. The really great news is that truth always triumphs over falsehood.
If you were to ask any of the rioters if they know what the First Amendment protects you would probably get a blank expression, especially from those who have been indoctrinated since childhood in the public school classrooms of humanism.
The First Amendment states:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” [Emphasis added]
In the United States, the First Amendment of the Constitution was intended to defend the rights of the Christian faith with no preference for one denomination above the others. No law can be made to prohibit the free exercise of speech or the right of the people to peaceably assemble.
Freedom of speech is the protection of individual rights. This liberty of expression never meant that anyone has a right to shout “fire” in a theater. Nor was it intended to be used for such an evil purpose as promoting pornography, whether of consenting adults or least of all children.
Freedom is confined within moral limits; otherwise, it is no different than tyranny, which is oppressive and destructive. The only sustainable morality is the revealed Word of God. It is the only place where the definition of right or wrong is found to create the right environment. Any other worldview is fighting a losing battle for the perfect social order. Humanism hates God’s moral law since it is a restraining force to their lifestyle of rebellion and lawlessness. Humanists see their sinful rebellion as normal and by rejecting God’s law/Word, as it is written in the Bible, they think they are free to do as they please. For them, freedom becomes their expression against moral standards established by God. The irony of this misguided freedom from God’s moral authority is the creation of false gods. People will find themselves imposing their immorality as a civil right, vainly imagining their superiority.
Real freedom for humanity is not outside of God’s authority and His redeeming Salvation; those who profess to be on God’s side must live by higher standards:
“Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.” (1 Peter 2:16)
“So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty.” (James 2:12)
“Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’ …So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:31-32, 36)
For now, those in Chicago are the losers along with all those who sympathize with them by shutting down freedom of expression.
