We previously reported on E. Ray Moore’s brave projection of the homeschooling issue to the level of a state attorney general’s race. The bold measure has, as you can imagine, sent statists and liberals into an infinite loop of shock and dismay: “Does not compute. Does not compute.” Somewhere between total disconnect and political blood in the water, circling liberal sharks are stirring national waters, unwittingly bringing Moore’s bravery and message before thousands of onlookers. Ha!
The latest attempt at a hit piece from HuffPo features a minority and a metrosexual mocking the old white dude. While the text version is comparatively sane, the video companion features the two in snarling derision the likes of Keith Maddow or Rachel Olberman but without the talent.
The HuffPo duo is nearly as void of competence as well. They go from farcical mockery and denunciation of “outdated, outmoded, out of touch” to saying this:
GUEST: I don’t want to dismiss his point of view completely because I do think a lot of parents who are religious struggle with the question about “do I put my kids in a private school with a religious tradition, or do I put them in public school?”
HOST: No, I think that is a fair conversation to have. . . . I think the right to defend your children from the evils of public education, if you think there’s something problematic about public education, is absolutely one you should defend. I think if you have a belief system that the school doesn’t speak to or honor, you should do it at home or do it in another school. I think that’s totally reasonable, and I think many traditions of people have been doing that for years. I offer him respect.
Exactly. So what was your point again, exactly?
So they mock and mock, but in oblivion circle around and support Moore’s political platform in the end. Oops.
My suspicion is that neither of these heroes will be in line for promotion with their liberal masthead anytime soon.
However, HuffPo’s promotion of exactly what candidate E. Ray Moore has said in print, with helpful links to his ministry and youtube videos, is just the kind of promotion homeschoolers and homeschool activists like me love. Thank you, Ms. Huffington, for providing the venue for this:
A South Carolina candidate for lieutenant governor thinks Christian parents should pull their children out of the “godless” and “pagan” public school system.
Addressing a crowd at an April 12 rally in Charleston, Republican E. Ray Moore said Christians currently face a culture war caused by the non-religious teachings of public schools.
“We cannot win this war we’re in as long as we keep handing our children over to the enemy to educate,” said Moore, after explaining that he had home-schooled his son.
He continued thus: “It cannot be fixed, the socialistic model, and we need to abandon that. As conservatives and Christians, if you think you’re going to win this war you’re in, and leave your children in those schools, it will not happen.”
Moore previously founded a project called the Exodus Mandate, which is described on its website as a “Christian ministry to encourage and assist Christian families to leave Pharaoh’s school system (i.e. government schools) for the Promised Land of Christian schools or home schooling.”
Thank you also to Rebecca Klein for writing this, and thanks to the two knuckleheads who goofed up their segment so perfectly.
And thank you to E. Ray Moore for your faithfulness and bravery in fighting for the way forward with Christian schools and homeschools.
