“In God We Trust” …Do We?

“Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength,
whose heart turns away from the LORD.”
(Jeremiah 17:5)

Some people like to think they are, or can be, autonomous. In their minds it means to arrive at a place where they don’t need anything or anyone to make it in life. At least that is the goal many people think is possible to arrive at. The truth of the matter is, there has never been, neither will there ever be anyone who is autonomous except God. Because being autonomous also means that you are the author of your life. No human being can give himself life or give anyone life. There is only one author of life, and that is our Creator.

Bottom line, we all need to trust in something or someone bigger, more powerful and more knowledgeable than ourselves who can give us all the answers that we need to understand all there is to life and the universe. Again, that is beyond any human being’s reach. The good news? We are not alone, and we have a big, all-wise, very loving and powerful God who is very patient with us and makes himself available to answer all of our questions and aids us with all of his resources, which are limitless. He is the only One truly trustworthy.

There is no question that we are facing extraordinary challenges in the world today. Though surmountable, they require much wisdom, knowledge, strength, and determination, and in the case of a society, it requires unity from a significant amount of people to make the changes we desperately need. We must be in unity in the values we espouse to have common denominators in the foundation we are building upon. “Can two walk together without agreeing where to go?” (Amos 3:3)

In America, the foundation where most agreed used to be our national motto, “In God We Trust”. God was the common denominator most of us had in this country. But since the God-haters have been louder, more persistent, and have used the loopholes in our laws to have their own way, this disunity has pulled us away from the original godly foundation of our country. People with animosity toward God and everything he has established, have gained ground and strength in their efforts to take our country away from God. Why? Because we have allowed it.

Somewhere down the road in our national life, we drifted from putting our trust in God first and placed it in government, which is equivalent to trusting humans. Yes, that is idolatry. This was a deadly fork in the road in the life of our nation and we took the wrong turn. Now, we find ourselves trusting in faulty humans in government rather than God and look where it has taken us! We are on the path that has destroyed all other great civilizations and countries. We are headed straight toward destruction. Do you think I am exaggerating? Take a look at these 37 Indications of a Civilization Headed for a Fall.

In our nation, many people at this moment are trusting in a man named President Donald J. Trump to give their life more meaning and to help solve their problems. So, in a sense, they have placed their trust in him. But the Bible says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the LORD.” (Jeremiah 17:5) We must never trust humans instead of God. This will clearly bring a curse upon us. Be careful America!

We don’t deny that President Trump has been accomplishing some pretty amazing things for our country and we are very grateful that God has given him to lead us at this time. President Trump has accomplished things that are very important for our survival and we are very grateful. But no human can save us from our real godless condition unless we deposit our total trust in God once again and turn from our wicked ways (2 Chronicles 7:14). God is our only salvation!

We must never give President Trump the credit, loyalty and place dependence on him instead of God. We must never worship men instead of the Almighty.

Only put your full trust in God, America.
