Justice Antonin Scalia (March 11, 1936 – February 13, 2016)

Justice Antonin Scalia’s passing is a shock to true conservatives in the nation. He is considered to be one of the most learned judges in the history of this country. He was a committed, non-compromising constitutionalist on the Supreme Court that is dominated by those who see themselves as the ones who dictate the law of the land.

Our heartfelt prayers go to the Scalia family. May the Holy Spirit comfort their hearts during their time of grief and in the days to come. May they draw closer to the loving heavenly Father from whom all blessings flow.

Justice Scalia’s passing is a reminder of the importance in having individuals of proven character on the judicial benches that do not consider themselves to be little gods who legislate laws, which destroy the core values laid in the foundation of this country by the forefathers and America’s founding documents.

From the very beginning of its creation, for the most part, the U.S. Supreme Court lifetime appointees have departed from the original intent of that branch. They have shredded the Constitution to impose their ideology and that has transformed this nation for the worse.

Thomas Jefferson never trusted the integrity of the U.S. Supreme Court. The following two quotes are just an example of his many writings that best describe judges run amok:

“Our Constitution . . . intending to establish three departments, co-ordinate and independent that they might check and balance one another, it has given—according to this opinion to one of them alone the right to prescribe rules for the government of others; and to that one, too, which is unelected by and independent of the nation. . . . The Constitution, on this hypothesis, is a mere thing of wax in the hands of the judiciary, which they may twist and shape into any form they please.” (Letter to Judge Spencer Roane, Sept. 6, 1819)

You seem . . . to consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all constitutional questions; a very dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the despotism of an oligarchy. Our judges are as honest as other men, and not more so . . . and their power [is] the more dangerous, as they are in office for life and not responsible, as the other functionaries are, to the elective control. The Constitution has erected no such single tribunal, knowing that to whatever hands confided, with corruptions of time and party, its members would become despots.” (Letter to William Jarvis, Sept. 28, 1820)

No doubt, Obama sees the passing of Justice Antonin Scalia as an excellent opportunity to appoint another of his brand of liberal judges. By doing so, this would put the Supreme Court in total control of the leftist agenda and that would consolidate Obama’s dream of fundamentally transforming America.

The questions are: does the U.S. Senate, which is dominated by Republicans, have the wisdom and courage to stop Obama from appointing his choice of ideologue? Would they use their legitimate authority to prevent him from doing so? In the days to come, we will see if they have the internal fortitude to do the right thing for the nation, or if they will continue to give Obama everything he wants as they have done in the past.

The Republicans in the Senate have history on their side with the “LBJ precedent” of 1968, when Chief Justice Earl Warren announced his retirement and President Lyndon Johnson nominated Associate Justice Abe Fortas to succeed him.

The Republican, and Democrat senators who were conservative, stopped Johnson from getting his way. Johnson was a lame-duck president with only seven months left in his presidency. The conservatives understood how crucial it was for the future of the nation to have judges who abide by the original intent of conservatism. It is no different this time around. The GOP senators have a defining moment in the history of the Senate. They do not have time to play politics as usual; they cannot compromise, political correctness has to be set aside, they must not use moderation, or play the appeasement card, and most importantly, they must not sell their souls to the Prince of Darkness.

The death of Scalia should bring front and center the importance of having individuals in public office with a clear understanding of the moral absolutes that must govern human affairs: When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” (Proverbs 29:2)

Above all, we must not overlook that God is getting our attention to help us understand how close we are to losing this nation. The battle for the soul of America is not a laughing matter, and it is up to the present generation of Christian Americans to determine the outcome of victory or defeat.
