Post-Election America

“If the foundations are destroyed”
(Psalm 11:3)

Can a building remain standing if its foundation is compromised? The obvious answer is, no!

The post-election disarray looks and feels like an atomic bomb exploded and the debris is everywhere. This was a long time coming. Are you surprised to hear that? You shouldn’t be surprised. This kind of breakdown doesn’t happen overnight or with one or two elections. As a nation we have been in trouble for a very long time. It has been over 100 years to be more exact when we allowed our value systems based on godly principles to begin to erode, thereby compromising our foundation. We let go of the truth and strength that sustained us. When that happens, whether to an individual or a nation, it’s just a matter of time for a demise to occur.

If people think that a new president is going to fix America, they are greatly mistaken. America has changed forever, but this can be the best thing that has happened to us so we can fix everything that is broken. This is a great opportunity for a do over.

Our foundation has been breaking down for a long time and therefore it is very weak. It can and must be fixed, we must learn to work hard to heal our land with God’s help. We have made a mess of our country, and it is up to us to clean it up.

We can’t easily continue to push under the rug all the turmoil simply because we have had a presidential election whose results, we don’t even have clear yet, as of this writing. The eyes of the world are on America waiting for the final outcome as votes continue to be counted. But it is not just the vote outcome that the world is waiting for, rather, how are we going to fix ourselves as a nation. Believe it or not, America has been a world leader for a long time and nations try to follow in our footsteps. They are taking a battering right now as well. Where are we going to lead them to this time if we don’t get it right? Will the world judge our leadership as hypocritical or do we still have the opportunity to heal ourselves and inspire the world in the right direction?

There is no doubt that we have drifted from the solid foundation that gave us our greatness and made us a positive force for the nations of the world. If we hope to not collapse into total ruin, we must get back to it.

God’s laws of life for the entire world are not suggestions or options to choose from, they are commands and he will judge us by them, whether we are believers in him or not. This is his world, “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.” (Psalm 24:1-2)

One of America’s biggest mistakes was to allow the people to make the laws rather than to be vigilant over them. We were given a Republic of laws not a democracy. John Adams said, “Remember Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes exhausts and murders itself. There never was a Democracy Yet, that did not commit suicide.”

We have clearly experienced that what the majorities decide is not always the best route to go. If the majority of citizens say that murder will no longer be illegal it doesn’t make it right, especially in the eyes of God who has already established the proper laws to follow in all matters of life.

The simple conclusion to draw in these times is that we have abandoned God’s defined and unmovable guidelines and we are now reaping the consequences. He is waiting for us to get back to basics.

“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows,
that will he also reap.”
(Galatians 6:7)
