The fundamental transformation of America continues down the road of self-destruction as some supremacist federal judges wreak havoc. Alabama has been all over the news since Judge Callie Virginia Smith “Ginny” Granade of the U.S. District Court for Southern Alabama, struck down Alabama’s constitutional amendment, which 81 percent of the voters approved in 2006 against same-sex marriages. Granade said, “The laws in question are on the rational way of promoting biological relationships in Alabama.” 1 Judge Granade’s motives for ruling against Alabama’s marriage laws are in question. 

This is where the two Moore’s take center stage:

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore said that despite a federal judge’s ruling, he will continue to recognize the state’s law banning same-sex marriage. He is quoted as saying:

“…adamantly denounced the ruling legalizing same-sex marriage and suggested he would defy efforts to make it legal in Alabama. 

Moore … sent a three-page letter to Gov. Robert Bentley Tuesday sharply criticizing U.S. District Judge Ginny Granade’s recent rulings striking down the state’s 1998 law and 2006 constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

As Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, I will continue to recognize the Alabama Constitution and the will of the people overwhelmingly expressed in the Sanctity of Marriage Amendment,’ Moore wrote.” 2 

Russell Moore (no relation to Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore), president, of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, has made statements of concern due to his confusion of Biblical law, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights  

The Baptist Press published a correction on Russell Moore’s statement:

“As citizens and as Christians, our response should be one of both conviction and of respect for the rule of law (1 Peter 2:13; Romans 13). Our system of government does not allow a state to defy the law of the land.

“In a Christian ethic, there is a time for civil disobedience in cases of unjust laws. That’s why, for instance, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. went to jail. In the case of judges and state Supreme Court justices, though, civil disobedience, even when necessary, cannot happen in their roles as agents of the state…We shouldn’t have officials breaking the law, but civil servants don’t surrender their conscience simply by serving in government. While these details are being worked out, in the absence of any conscience protections, a government employee faced with a decision of violating his conscience or upholding the law, would need to resign and protest against it as a citizen if he could not discharge the duties of his office required by law in good conscience. (Emphasis mine)

Russell Moore does not sound any different than the entire hard-left leaning liberals who are having a fit with Alabama’s Chief Justice Roy Moore for doing his job. Chris Cuomo, from CNN, wanted to corner Judge Moore by asking him repeatedly to acknowledge that his decision was wrong and against the law. Cuomo told Judge Moore: Our rights do not come from God. That’s your faith. That’s my faith. But that’s not our country. Our laws come from collective agreement and compromise.” 3 

Judge Moore answered Cuomo:

It’s not a matter of faith, sir; it’s a matter of organic law, which states ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are held equal and endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness’, and the only role of government is stated in the next sentence, is to secure those rights for us.

When government starts taking those rights away from us, then it’s not securing it for us; it is violating the whole purpose of government”. 3 

Even though the Left thinks Cuomo won the day against Judge Moore, once you read the transcript you will see that it was the other way around.

It is clear that Russell Moore does not know that civilians get elected to the different branches of government to serve and protect the people.  

“That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” (See, The Declaration of Independence)

How can Russell Moore even conceive that Judge Moore, an elected official, and the state of Alabama are not within their job description to secure those rights when it is very plainly stated in the purpose of the Declaration of Independence? Russell Moore, ideologically teams up with Chris Cuomo in wanting Judge Moore and the state of Alabama, who are following the law, to bow down to a U.S. District Judge who is creating law in violation of the Constitution and the State law of Alabama? It is not her place to do so. Instead, they should be asking for her resignation!

There is no reason for Judge Moore to resign, as Russell Moore argues, since he is following the law. Neither is he violating 1 Peter 2:13 or Romans 13:1. Judge Moore is an elected official, doing precisely what he is supposed to be doing, upholding the law.  

It is clear that the action that should follow in this incident is to call for Judge Granade’s resignation. Not only is she acting in disagreement with the law of Alabama, but why should she get away with her blatant usurpation of power like other judges have done when they trample upon the state’s rulings? 

Judge Moore and some of his supporters have established the Foundation for Moral Law to continue his fight for the right to acknowledge God, publicly, as the source of American law and morality. 

Russell Moore needs to tell us where in the Constitution of the United States does it mention marriage? Does he even know what the 10th amendment says: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” (Emphasis added). 

It is obvious, to me; Russell Moore is very confused about the relevance of the moral law of God and Romans 13:

“For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.” (Romans 13:3-5)

The late Adrian Rogers got it right when he said: “God created human government. It is, therefore, inconceivable that God would create government and then tell His people to stay out of it.”

Russell Moore should know evil ideas will only produce evil results. That means evil behavior produces a culture of evil and history tells us no society can survive indefinitely under the climate of decadence. He should also know about all the problems that judicial tyranny causes and a nation must not run away or ignore it; it must be addressed for what it is. If he thinks that what judges are doing now is lawful and approved by God Almighty, then I would ask him, whose ethics is he promoting? No one who chooses to ignore common sense, logic, history and God’s moral absolutes thinks that they are not being irrational.

God’s truth can never be silenced and will always prevail. No one has been able to succeed in conquering the truth. God is not asleep, neither has He forsaken us. Our times demand for us to be knowledgeable, wise, firm and brave.
