I recently watched two interviews on two different subjects. The first one was about the supporters of Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, who openly admits to being a “Democratic Socialist.” His supporters were asked to explain socialism but they were not successful in defining what true socialism is really all about. They, like Senator Sanders, want America to be totally socialist.
It is obvious to me that those who were being interviewed did not know the horrible history of socialism. They would see the reality of socialism if they would only take the initiative to use their critical thinking, something that is no longer taught in the University. They would not have to go too far to see an example of socialism if they researched life as close as 90 miles off the shores of Florida in Cuba. Why is it that since the Cuban revolution’s victory (1953–1959), people still want to leave that “socialist paradise”? If they could only take a good look at what is taking place in Venezuela and how that socialist experiment is working out; they would learn of the social chaos and how that nation is at the brink of collapse.
What about socialist Nicaragua? Are socialism lovers aware of the short-lived socialist experiment in that nation? Do they even question why The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics collapsed? Are they even paying attention to why China went from their failed socialist paradise system to mixing it with capitalism in order to survive? I could give more examples, but I think you get the idea.
I doubt it if these supporters of Sanders have ever studied the quotes of the following knowledgeable individuals regarding socialism:
“To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, ‘the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry, and the fruits acquired by it.'” – Thomas Jefferson
“I’ve always doubted that the socialists had a leg to stand on intellectually.” – Friedrich Hayek
“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” – Winston Churchill
“Socialists ignore the side of man that is of the spirit. They can provide shelter, fill your belly with bacon and beans, treat you when you are ill, all the things that are guaranteed to a prisoner or a slave. They don’t understand that we dream – yes, even of some time owning a yacht.”
“How do you tell a Communist? Well, it’s someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an Anti-communist? It’s someone who understands Marx and Lenin.” – President Ronald Reagan
“Socialists cry ‘Power to the people’, and raise the clenched fist as they say it. We all know what they really mean — power over people, power to the State.” – Margaret Thatcher
“The trouble is with socialism, which resembles a form of mental illness more than it does a philosophy.” – L. Neil Smith
“Socialism is based on envy and eventually always creates a very powerful big government controlled by very mediocre people who envy any success and destroy it.” – unknown author (it perfectly describes socialism).
“Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade It.” – Thomas Sowell
“All socialism involves slavery.” — Herbert Spencer
Karl Marx was known to be, among many other things, the father of socialism, which brings me to the next observation that socialism comes in different forms: Leninism, “Democratic” Socialism, Communal Socialism and the close relationships between communism, Nazism and liberalism.
The other interview I watched was about Hillary Clinton’s supporters who want Sharia law implemented in America.
Sharia law is the Islamic law. The people being interviewed are only hearing and focusing on the name of the person they support for president, and they all wanted to come across as knowledgeable on the topic. I seriously doubt they even have a clue as to what they are wishing for America by embracing such a law and the tremendous cultural changes and chaos that would bring about. Or, perhaps they really do want to replace America’s original and rapidly fading biblical foundation with Sharia law. A trip to the Muslim nations that practice Sharia law could enlighten them better than anything else would.
To think that these people vote is of great concern. People create culture based upon their ideas about life and the world. A nation is never without the influence of ideas that dictate its morality. The same concern is for all, which includes professing Christians who are misinformed in all areas of life.
Is your pastor educating the congregation in depth on the two subjects addressed here? Is your pastor educating in each subject that goes against God’s morality? If he or she is not, are you educating yourself, your family and friends on the social issues that are tearing this nation apart? Do you see yourself making the difference to reverse this trend?
Christian America can rely on the historical truthfulness of old Israel. Since God does not change His moral principles and plan for His people, let us travel back in history and learn of the consequences of being bamboozled by the decadent trends of society and let us side with God by doing His will.
Hosea was a prophet, or social reformer, sent by God to deal with Israel’s unfaithfulness in the 8th century B.C. during the reigns of Uzziah and Jeroboam II. After Jeroboam II’s successful military campaigns (2 Kings 14:25–26), Israel experienced a time of abundant economic prosperity and freedom. However, as the Israelites became wealthier, their spiritual condition decreased, eventually leading them to abandon their covenant with God (Hosea 6:7; 8:1).
Carefully read the following found in Hosea 4:1-11:
“Hear the word of the Lord, O children of Israel, for the Lord has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or steadfast love, and no knowledge of God in the land; there is swearing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it languish, and also the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens, and even the fish of the sea are taken away. Yet let no one contend, and let none accuse, for with you is my contention, O priest. You shall stumble by day; the prophet also shall stumble with you by night; and I will destroy your mother. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. The more they increased, the more they sinned against me I will change their glory into shame. They feed on the sin of my people; they are greedy for their iniquity. And it shall be like people, like priest; I will punish them for their ways and repay them for their deeds. They shall eat, but not be satisfied; they shall play the whore, but not multiply, because they have forsaken the Lord to cherish whoredom, wine, and new wine, which take away the understanding.”
Just like our physical body alerts us when there’s something wrong, so it is with the nation. We have all the symptoms of a dying great nation; but don’t just take my word for it or trust what I say. Do your own research of true, unrevised history. The destruction of America is not going to come about because of unbelievers, rather because God’s people reject His knowledge as revealed in the Scriptures.
The future of America’s glory or shame rests upon all professing Christians, or at the very least, on those who want to do the will of our heavenly Father. If it is true that there are consequences for being misinformed, it is also true, and proven by history, the great benefits that come from being knowledgeable of God’s plans and putting them into practice.
