Slaying America’s Goliath

A defiant Goliath is challenging our country and all of our institutions and threatens the survival of America. This Goliath is causing her a spiritual and moral crisis and is producing much confusion, turmoil, corruption, instability and decadence. Our country is presenting the symptoms that all great civilizations have before a disastrous fall. Is our generation witnessing the end of America?

What is this Goliath that is threatening the destruction of America? It is rebellion against the God of the Bible and his statutes. There is no other acceptable explanation.

The present condition of our country should be causing much consternation in every citizen and it should be ringing a very loud alarm bell of warning in every Christian American. Why Christian Americans? Because Christians should be more alert and discerning to see the world as God sees it, they should know it isn’t looking good for us.  America is rapidly becoming a nation that God can no longer continue to approve, protect or bless no matter how generous a nation we may be. God is not impressed.

The spiritual and moral decadence of America has been a long time coming, ever since godly values began to be replaced by a humanistic/liberal mindset and the God of the Bible, the Designer and Creator of America, was put on a shelf in the minds of too many Americans. Much of the revolution and unrest in America of the 1960’s was caused by the fact that the young people did not see essence in the entire establishment all across the board especially in the spirituality of America, so they began a search into many pagan religions, drug use and out-of-control sex in hopes to find more fulfillment and a spiritual answer to their emptiness. The voids they were experiencing caused them to want to destroy this country but they had no alternative to put in its place. Change for change’s sake is never a good move and without knowing where you are going you will drift.  

Without a humble respect for God, there can be no lasting respect for anyone. Without God, anything goes. We see much evidence of this in our modern environment that is increasingly rejecting God and engaging in more vile immorality and disorder. Our modern, God-denying culture promotes abortion over having many children because “all those who hate me love death” (Proverbs 8:36).

The increasing decline is evident in the breakdown of the family, in education, in morality, in the world of entertainment and the arts to only name a few. With little exceptions, every aspect of American life is in decline/decay. The decline of the family reveals that nearly half (48 percent) of American children are born to a mother who is not married. Forty-three percent of American children live without a father in the home. Americans are having so few children that the fertility rate has fallen to a record low. In education: compared with nearly all of American history, the average American school teaches much less about important subjects such as American history, English grammar, literature, music, and art. Instead schools are teaching much more about “social justice,” environmentalism, and sex. Children learn very little of the important things. Public schools are the workshops of the liberals, not to mention most universities.

What can we say about the end of male and female roles? Marriage is marriage and gender means nothing, or so the argument goes. They are saying that how a child is raised doesn’t matter. A father has nothing unique to offer a child that a mother can’t provide and vice versa. In various high schools across the country, boys are even elected homecoming queen. This is complete and utter rebellion against the order of our Creator. God created just two genders, male and female (Genesis 1:27).

People think that just by deciding there is no right and wrong that that makes it so. At least two generations of American young people have been taught that moral categories are nothing more than personal preferences. God doesn’t figure into their equation and they think that he has nothing to say about anything. Americans are taught to rely on their feeling to determine how to behave, which is why some feel like being a male one day and another day they feel like being a female, or so they think.

You may ask where is Christianity in all this? The weakness of the church today is largely due to its concern for material prosperity and growing the numbers in their church rather than with God’s spiritual blessings. God is the one that reveals his moral standards to humans; we are not allowed to create our own morality.  

As you can see the Goliath of America is blatant rebellion toward God and the only way to slay that giant is to get back to honoring God and his Word.  America needs a biblical reformation in every sense of the word. If you acknowledge that American society is in decay, it is your obligation to fight with God’s help to undo it. Then David said to Goliath:

“… I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts. This day the Lord will deliver you up into my hands.” (1 Samuel 17:45-46)
