Stop Complaining and Do Something!

“Nothing is more certain than that a general profligacy and corruption of manners make a people ripe for destruction. A good form of government may hold the rotten materials together for some time, but beyond a certain pitch, even the best constitution will be ineffectual, and slavery must ensue.”
~ John Witherspoon ~

At this point in time, we are seeing something develop on a wide scale that America had not experienced at any time in her existence because, for the most part, America had engrained in her to live by the rule of law. No one was above the law, not even the president of the nation, let alone anyone else. Good morals and ethic were indispensable. But what we are now seeing develop at a very rapid pace is what the book of Judges in the Bible says in Judges 21:25 “In those days…everyone did what was right in their own eyes.”

Something very similar to what was happening in Israel in the book of Judges is what is developing in America at an alarming rate. America has lost its rudder and is a ship adrift tossed by every wind and whim of those in power. It seems everyone is doing what seems right in their own eyes regardless of what our governing documents say or the faith and morality that used to guide us.

In other words, we are witnessing the fall of our empire right before our eyes. Is it too late to save it? This is something each citizen and legal resident must decide and act upon.

It is not enough to say the nation is accelerating towards her destruction and then turn around and do nothing about it. Some questions must be answered beginning with this one: how did we get into this mess in the first place? Answering this question is key to understanding where we are this very moment.

Going into detail of how we went wrong can be very lengthy to explain but suffice it to say that George Washington warned us that if we ever let go of our anchor and rudder in the foundation of the United States, we would be in deep trouble.

In his Farewell Address of September 17, 1796, Washington stated, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism who should labor to subvert these great Pillars of human happiness.”

In the 17th, 18th, 19th, and in the early 20th century, religion in America was associated with biblical Christianity. That should not be a secret or a forgotten fact in our country. But at least in the last 90 years, and especially for the generations after the 1960s, those generations don’t know that because it was sponged from our history and no longer taught in our schools. God was chased out of the public schools in the 1960s when prayer and Bible reading were taken out.

Since then, America began to go downhill. It went a path down the slippery slope of immorality and now everyone seems to be doing what seems right in their own eye without regard to God, the Bible, our governing documents, and the rule of law.

But it’s not enough to complain and bemoan what America has become. We still have time to do something about it. If we fight for the soul of our nation with the very same tools that gave us our greatness with God, the Bible our governing documents and the rule of law, then we can reclaim it.

Don’t just complain about our fallen state, do something about it! We are all responsible.
