The panic button has been pressed since Speaker of the House John Boehner and his acolytes in Congress have called for tax increases by closing deductions to avoid the fiscal cliff before us. Boehner has been called all the nastiest names in the English language for suggesting such an evil consideration. Does he deserve the nasty name calling? Perhaps, even though I can summarize all those names into just one that Jesus said…. I will let you do your homework by reading the Gospels to find out.
Is America in deep financial trouble? Yes she is, just look at California and the big financial mess they are in. On top of that it is hard to believe Californians just voted to increase taxes on the rich. What is the outcome? The immediate response is over 10% less revenue and millionaires who are making their exodus out of the “Golden State.” Even Hollywood liberals are beginning to consider how to keep their money from being spread around by the government, many are selling their second and third homes.
There is good counsel directed towards the lawmakers in Congress on what to do to stop the fiscal cliff without compromising the deductible and other financial areas. I’m glad that within that counsel they call any tax increment perverse, especially when business investment is wavering. Tax history is self-evident since it reveals that tax increments destroy capital, it hurts the ones who are the job creators and shrinks the economy. We do not need to go back too far in history to learn the effects of tax increments; a quick smart look at what is taking place in Western Europe and Japan should be more than sufficient. What tax increase is revealing in these nations is terrifying! Parts of Europe are already experiencing recession. The great European economies of England, France and Germany are driving right into the recession. What about the United States of America or shall we start calling her United Socialist States of America? The Democrats, along with many Republicans, socialists and Marxists are redefining the culture of this nation. America is becoming unrecognizable!
Millions of Americans are in shock that this fiscal fiasco is happening. Did I just say fiscal fiasco? Yes I did. People will do well to stop whining against Congress, the White House and the Supreme Court, believe it or not, they are the less guilty for all this mess that has been building up since the early 19th century. You read right, since the early 19th century! You may ask, if they are not the guilty ones who is? In simple words, the true culprits are those who elect them into office, time after time with no accountability for their bad decisions that hurt society not just in the financial areas but all areas of moral conduct. When bad people are voted into office do not expect them to do anything good. When good people are voted into office and go bad, you just have to remove them in the next cycle or impeach them according to their perverse actions as treasonous to their districts or the nation. Remember, elected official represent the people who elected them.
Charitable organizations, for the most part, depend on donations to operate. We know that when we donate to charitable non-profit organizations we can expect a tax deduction for our giving whether it is personal or from a corporation. The sad part is that most people give only because the government guaranties a tax deduction.
Now I’m hearing from a lot of people that the government wants to take away the deductible for charities only so the government can take away the charitable influence in society and be the sole “benevolence” agency to people in need. Like if the government needed to do that; where have you been in the last four years? The Obama administration has added over 15 million people to the welfare beneficiary list and poverty has increased tremendously. The government does not need to take away the deductibles; it only needs to increment taxes to continue its labor of “generosity”. This is the reason Obama met with certain charitable organization leaders to ask for their support to increase taxes, he warned them that failure to support him would result in damages to their tax deductible. The dictionary calls this coercion.
Now the question we must answer is why are non-profit organizations in a panic at the thought of losing tax deductible status? I can understand the non-Christian organizations being fearful, but why should Christians be afraid? Do Christian organizations have to bow before the almighty centralized government? Who created the Federal government in the United States? The citizens created the Federal government! So how did the Federal Government become the all mighty divine to the people? It happened because Christians and caring citizens allowed it to be. It also happened when Christians turned their back on God and His ethical law. The tragedy started when Christians began to abandon their God given responsibilities of loving their neighbor as themselves and transferred that responsibility to the government. There is a lot of guilt to go around against Christians in America for abandoning God’s commission of discipling the nation to be conformed to God’s ethical government.
There are too many corrupt non-profit “Christian” organizations that have benefitted from the tax deductible that hones in Christian organizations. The genuine should be glad the deductible could be removed and in the process clean out the money profiteers. Those who profess to do God’s will should not be intimidated or coerced into any form of compromise that dishonors God’s moral law. Our loyalty is to God’s principles and no one else. We would rather join the Christians throughout history who were willing to die then to deny their loyalty to God’s Kingdom and the Lordship of Christ. We bow our knees only to God!
Granted, at the beginning of losing the deductible there will be a setback for all of us, however, soon all Christians will learn it is better to freely give out of our obedience to God’s moral law and to be the recipients of God’s returns rather than the government’s “generosity” of a deductible. I know this works. I have taught this message to many nations where there is no deductible for Christian giving and yet God blesses His people because He is not bound by man’s laws, His work does not stop, it truly moves FORWARD; His kind of forward not man’s.
Christians that have built big or small non-profit organizations and are in a panic mode and losing heart due to the possible end of the deductible, may I say, STOP YOUR WHINING and know the Lord your God and understand Jesus’ rebuke to Satan when he was offered the kingdoms of the world in exchange for worshipping him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve’” (Matthew 4:10). Haven’t you said this to people many times, “all things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose?” Well, wouldn’t this be a perfect opportunity to prove this?
Christians who have no other agenda than God’s will, be encouraged in your work unto the Lord, it should not change. When God calls He provides by many means and the best thing is we do not have to prostitute our calling in order to fulfill our mission. We know better, don’t we?
“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen” (Matthew 6:10-13).
