America has literally spent trillions of dollars exporting its brand of democracy around the world. Is the world a better place because of it? Hardly! What is worse and so very sad is the loss of life, the injured and maimed that have invested so much in forcing a political system upon others that only promotes a utopian world in people’s imagination. Democracy has never been able to produce the desired results neither will it ever be the solution for a stable society, ever. Even though billions of people continue to pursue democracy as the most viable solution to their social problems they constantly end up under the oppression of the few. The Athenians, approximately 2,500 years ago, in wanting to get rid of tyranny, monarchies and oligarchies gave birth to “the rule of many.” Oh yes, ideas do have consequences.
At the moment of this writing people are scratching their heads attempting to understand how come the Iraqi people are not defending the wonderful idea of democracy. Those who fought in the war with Iraq to liberate the people from the tyranny of Saddam Hussein are very upset and so are the families who lost their loved ones in that war, all for what, exactly?
In 2003, the U.S. declared war on Iraq that lasted from March 19 to May 1 of the same year. Originally it was called “Operation Iraqi Freedom.” Other nations joined the United States, such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Poland and Spain to get rid of the government of Hussein. According to the books, the war ended with the capture of the capital city, Baghdad by the American forces.
The word “Freedom” is a treasured word for the American people; they also have a history of knowing how important it is to be liberated from an oppressive form of government. Every 4th of July we are reminded of that, or so we think. Here’s the nitty-gritty—liberty and democracy have never been able to coexist—they are eternal enemies.
The American experiment of government was not the result of democracy even though many people believe America is a democracy. The Founders had a good understanding on how destructive democracy had been for the Greeks and others who imitated them; they avoided it and made it clear that the United States of America was never to become one. We better pay attention to their rejection towards democracy:
“[D]emocracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property; and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.” – James Madison
“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” – John Adams
“A democracy is a volcano which conceals the fiery materials of its own destruction. In light of the assessment of such wise and understanding men, what makes us think that we can outsmart those who understood and warned us of the evils of democracy?
Is it any wonder that American democracy failed in the Middle East? For starters, Islam has two main branches, Sunni and Shiite and they could care less about democracy, their conflict started after the death of their prophet Muhammad in the year 632. They have been killing each other since then even though they have had some periods of coexistence.
Sunnis are the majority in most Muslim communities. Iran, Iraq and Bahrain are majority Shia. The invasion of the U.S. in Iraq that overthrew Saddam Hussein in 2003 and the democratic elections only triggered the conflict between the Sunni and Shiite. Why? Because, for the first time Shiites ruled a modern Arab State. Iran is Shiite and Saudi Arabia is Sunni guess who wants to dominate the world of Islam and other nations? Both of them, but not in unity, rather one of them wants to be number one. Next time you hear how important it is to restore democracy in Iraq or any part in the Middle East, beware.
And, how is democracy working for America? We know what democracy is doing to America and if we do not change course we should know what the end will be as the rule of the mob increases. In the words attributed to Thomas Jefferson: “A democracy is nothing more than mob rule.” Whether he said it or not, it sure lines up with the sentiments of the Founding Fathers that democracy is a “Mobocracy.”
America was born to be a Republic under God, meaning built upon biblical principles where God’s ethics determine the outcome of social life and its institutions. Popular feelings not filtered through the moral law of God will continue to drag this nation down the path to destruction. Do you need an example? Since 1973, close to 60 million babies have been murdered in their mother’s womb because mobocracy says it’s the right thing to do. Forget about the babies right to life, liberty and the pursuit of their God-given talents. Founding Father, Noah Webster said: “[O]ur citizens should early understand that the genuine source of correct republican principles is the Bible, particularly the New Testament, or the Christian religion.”
Democrat President Andrew Jackson said: “The Bible is the rock on which this Republic rests.”
President Theodore Roosevelt stated: “The teachings of the Bible are so interwoven and entwined with our whole civic and social life that it would be literally impossible for us to figure to ourselves what that life would be if these teaching were removed.”
God’s ethics never change. If we continue to trash biblical values then we can kiss whatever little liberties we have left goodbye and brace ourselves to be plunged into chaos as we continue to witness what is taking place in many nations in the world, all in the name of democracy.
