The Value of Life

Nena Arias | January 15, 2018

We are coming up on the forty-fifth anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade ruling in the landmark decision issued in 1973 by the United States Supreme Court on the issue of the constitutionality of laws that criminalized or restrict access to abortions. Since then “abortion-on-demand” in the U.S. has killed over 60 million babies “legally”. That is more than 10 times the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust.

Did you ever think you would live in a world that is coming to a total ethical breakdown where life is concerned? Life is the most precious of gifts and sacred in God’s eyes, yet it is readily being disposed of by the will of some humans? The world has evolved into a culture of death and total irreverence for life through open disregard by disposing of it through abortion, euthanasia, organ harvesting and selling, honor killings, and human trafficking, to mention only a few of the ways in which life is being destroyed.

By what legitimate authority do people take it upon themselves to murder or dispose of a human life, a decision based only on their will? Do people even think of the word ethics any more or fear of God? Do they not know that God has created every human being in his image and likeness and ONLY he has the authority to take that life?

Ethics, in human culture, is about valuing life, yours as well as other people’s lives. It is the respect for life that gives us the fundamental principles of morality. Our Creator has instructed us that to disregard life and to destroy it, harm or hinder it in any way is evil and the act of killing a life is punished by him and should also be punished by men.  Remember, “You shall not kill”?  We are commanded to not kill or damage life in any way or there will be severe consequences.

Genesis 9:5-6 says, “And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning… From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man. ‘Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.’”

Ladies and gentleman, young people, boys and girls, it is a real tragedy that life is being killed, trafficked and disposed of at will while the masses sit idly by and watch it happen without lifting a finger to do something about it. At the very least, no one who calls him or herself a Christian should be among those ranks, yet they abound. This is tragic!

The sacredness of life even includes the life of the pre-born because God already knows us even before we are born. Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.”

The value of human life is precious to God and he takes great care of it. Matthew 6:26  “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they?

I have many goals to accomplish in my lifetime, the main one being to know God and to make him known to as many people as I can reach. And one very important goal of my mine is to see abortion reversed in my country before I leave this earth. It hurts my heart and my entire being when I think about the so-called legal practice of abortion. But I must not stop there. First of all, I pray against it and ask our heavenly Father to give us brave men and women in Congress who will once and for all reverse the Roe v. Wade ruling that has condemned over 60 million of the unborn to a premature death. It is inconceivable that the majority of those in the U.S. House of Representatives and in the U.S. Senate, and even the current president in the White House, say they are pro-life and could so easily reverse the killing of innocent life, yet they refuse to do it, most in the name of not jeopardizing their political careers. Shame on them!

Second, I speak and educate often against abortion in our radio broadcasts and editorials.

Third, I give money to organizations I know are being effective in fighting against abortion and are educating accurately and heavily against abortion especially in the college and university campuses where up and coming generations can see the light and come up among the ranks and reverse this evil in our society and the world.

Woe to us if we sit idly by while thousands and millions of innocent lives are being slaughtered on our watch. Also, when life has been so cheapened that it is bought and sold at will. God help us!

At the very least, sign the two active petitions we have on our website. They are:

ACTIVE PETITIONS

“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, ‘But we knew nothing about this,’ does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?” Proverbs 24:11-12
