There is Only One Higher Authority

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, who is considered a moderate, was a guest speaker at the Harvard School of Law, as reported by LifeSiteNews, and he was asked by a student if “government officials who disagree with the Supreme Court’s decisions on gay marriage, or abortion, have the constitutional right to act according to their sincerely held moral beliefs.”

To which Kennedy replied: “no, they do not have the right to refuse to comply with the law.”

The article continues to mention that, Kennedy, in defense of his statement, cited that under the government of Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich, only three judges resigned. He complemented this by acknowledging that Christians are facing difficult decisions to “enforce a law that they believe is morally corrupt, difficult moral questions.” “However, the rule of law is that, as a public official, in performing your legal duties, you are bound to enforce the law.”

Yes, he really said that; this is not a joke. Not only are public officials being asked to forget about their Christian morality, but you should also know that Christian businesses are being persecuted by their own government. They are being forced to submit to man’s definition of what is moral with a total disregard for the moral law of God, which is the foundation of this nation.

For Kennedy to use the laws of Hitler’s government as the foundation for the new laws in America, and force our society to submit to immoral laws, should be a definite wake up call to take the necessary steps to join those who truly understand what is destroying the nation.

Was Justice Kennedy comparing the U.S. government to the Third Reich? There will be those who will want to spin his statement, but the cat is out of the bag. This is happening not only at the U.S. Supreme Court level but also in the other two branches of government. Unbeknownst to most people, this has been going on for a little over 200 years.

Has Justice Kennedy ever studied the life and actions of John Jay? If he hasn’t, he should. Jay was a Founding Father, Signer of the Treaty of Paris, Second Governor of New York, and First Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. In a letter to Peter Augustus Jay, in 1784, he wrote the following about Christianity and morality:

“The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and in the next. Continue therefore to read it and to regulate your life by its precepts.”

In his will he wrote:

“Unto Him who is the author and giver of all good, I render sincere and humble thanks for His manifold and unmerited blessings, and especially for our redemption and salvation by His beloved son. He has been pleased to bless me with excellent parents, with a virtuous wife, and with worthy children. His protection has companied me through many eventful years, faithfully employed in the service of my country; His providence has not only conducted me to this tranquil situation but also given me abundant reason to be contented and thankful. Blessed be His holy name!”

Does “Justice” Kennedy know anything about the Nuremberg Trials? If he doesn’t, he should study them. The proceedings of the Nuremberg Trials, and why they happened in the first place, totally shred Kennedy’s premise of trusting Nazi law as something that all Americans should submit to. Those who benefit by promoting their immoral lifestyle may be cheering Kennedy’s approval and admiration of tyrannical laws to stop biblical Christians. They too should know and take a good look at what happened to Germany for embracing laws contrary to God’s. The outcome of WWII is nothing to brag about it.  

The Nuremberg Trials were conducted by the International Military Tribunal for the prosecution and execution of Nazi war criminals. Those who were hanged were the last higher ups of the leadership committed to total obedience in bringing to pass the Thousand-Year Reich as the world dominance. Their defense was that, “they were following the law.” They also believed that all those in opposition to Hitler’s government of immoral laws “did not have the right to refuse to comply with the law” and got what they deserved.

Does Justice Kennedy also believe that the Founding Fathers were wrong by not submitting to the immoral laws of King George III and the British Parliament? Is he saying that the signers of the Declaration of Independence were wrong and that by appealing to the “Legal Owner of the world, Supreme Ruler, Judge and Legislator” was also wrong? Let us read part of the Declaration of Independence and see if Kennedy is in contempt:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. —That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. —That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it; and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.—Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government.

Does Justice Kennedy understand the preamble of the Constitution?

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. 

In late 1776, the population that was to become the United States of America was comprised by 98% Protestant Christians, 1.8% Catholic Christians, and 0.2 of one percent Jewish. Do you think they had in mind to give birth to a new nation against God’s moral absolutes? Of course not! It is absurd to even conceive that this would be so!

On November 19, 1863, at the Soldiers’ National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, President Abraham Lincoln, ended his famous address with hope:

“that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Do you think Lincoln was talking about a government ruled by those who think themselves to be demigods? That is not what he meant by any stretch of the imagination. However, we must keep in mind that a nation or people under the God of the Bible are the only ones responsible for the type of civil government and culture they produce.

Our generation does not recognize the source of Lincoln’s closing statement. John Wycliffe (1331-1384) was an English philosopher, theologian, lay preacher, translator and reformer, who taught at Oxford, England. In the 14th century he started a movement of dissidents from the Roman Catholic Church and preached the Bible to bring about reformation. He is one of the leaders who planted the seeds that over 100 years later became the Protestant Reformation; he is called the Morning Star of the Reformation.

Wycliffe was an advocate for the translation of the Bible into the English language so everyone could read and understand it. In 1384 he wrote in the prologue: “This Bible is for the government of the people, for the people and by the people.”

George Washington in a letter to Thomas Nelson, 1778, he said:

“The Hand of providence has been so conspicuous in all this, that he must be worse than an infidel that lacks faith, and more than wicked, that has not gratitude enough to acknowledge his obligations.”

In His Farewell Address, 1796, he stated:

“[W]here is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious [biblical] obligation deserts the oaths…?

“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion [biblical Christianity] and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism who should labor to subvert these great Pillars of human happiness.”

Justice Anthony M. Kennedy has written many decisions that legislate unconstitutional laws. Is he going to resign?

The current U.S. Supreme Court is dominated by professing Christians:  Chief Justice John Roberts, Antony M. Kennedy, Anthony Scalia, Samuel Alito, Sonia Sotomayor and Clarence Thomas, are Catholics. Stephen G. Breyer, Elena Kagen and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, are Jewish. 

What do they all have in common? They all profess faith in God the Creator of all things. The question is, do they consult His moral law? Not if they believe they are above God’s law. Perhaps some of them don’t really believe they will give an account to the Heavenly Supreme Court before the Supreme Judge of the entire universe.

Biblical Christians have only One higher authority and it is not from any human, regardless of his or her title:

“For the Lord is our judge; the Lord is our lawgiver; the Lord is our king; he will save us.” (Isaiah 33:22)

Does this mean we are to openly rebel just for the sake of rebelling? No, it means we must recognize that men are in a deep crisis of their own making. We are more than overdue for all professing Christians to have perfect knowledge of God’s moral law, true Christian history, His plans for this nation and for a greater commitment to proclaim the light of the Good News of the Kingdom of God to a lost world in deep darkness.  Each one of us is responsible to pursue this knowledge and should be determined to detox from spiritual junk food.
