“This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.”
(Matthew 15:8)
How would you like it if you found out that people only come around you and seek you out for what you can give them, but they have no respect and appreciation for you as a person? It would be pretty hurtful for most people to find that out. Yet, sadly, this is the case of far too many people when it comes to their “relationship” with God. They only want to be “friends of convenience” with God and buck him when they realize that God desires a deeper relationship that requires total commitment to him in principles of obedience and that every promise and provision that he offers has conditions. The reason for this is that he invests in us for eternity and humans just focus on the temporal and what is convenient for them.
The history of the United States of America includes a foundation built mostly on biblical principles and that is the most important and basic truth for the prosperity we have enjoyed for centuries since its beginning after the arrival of the European protestant pilgrims. They came seeking greater liberty to seek the God of the Bible and to live out their faith in him and that is what gave them the prosperity and success in establishing this nation which became the greatest nation in human history. Nowadays, that order has changed. People seek and crave God’s provision without him in the picture.
Many people who are ignorant of our true history now want to destroy that truth and think that the U.S. will continue to prosper without God’s truth in our founding. They are dead wrong and the present condition of the unraveling of our country in all areas is proof of that. It has become too easy and common for people to say, “God bless America” and expect it to happen. But merely giving God lip service is a total offense to the Almighty and he will not be made a fool by anyone.
Having said that, what awaits us in the near future? What can we expect if what we see is an apparent terrible demise of our country and our way of life? We can feel that a destructive storm is brewing everywhere we look. Many people are refusing to face this and hope that this threat will blow over and just go away and things will get back to “normal”.
The premise is that we should not deceive ourselves in thinking we can mock God because “What a man sows that will he also reap” (Galatians 6:9). For a long time, America has been sowing seeds of mockery toward God and we are now reaping the results, and more is to come.
A disastrous storm is coming if we only want God’s provisions and continue to endeavor to push Him aside. He will not be mocked by anyone, not even America!
