It is not only sad but tragic that in the name of diversity we are going at a break neck pace toward the destruction of what gave us the freedom of principled expression in the first place.
In a strong-arm move, the University of Iowa told Christian members of InterVarsity Fellowship that they could no longer require their leaders to be Christians. Under those circumstances, the on-campus club had little choice. They shut down. Now they have decided to sue the university, and rightfully so. In an email on June 1, the Iowan University chapter of InterVarsity, that had been on campus for 25 years and emphasizes the importance of only having Christian leadership for their club, was instructed that they had until June 15 to change their leadership selection requirements or be deregistered on campus. Say what? A Christian organization can’t require their leaders to be Christians?
How does it make any sense, for example, that a Republican political group not require their leadership be Republican, or a Democrat political group require their leadership be Democrat? So why should a Christian club organization not require their leadership to adhere to Christian values to be in a leadership position? This is clearly a leftist infested administration using their position of authority on the Iowan University campus to push their leftist agenda to squash Christianity, who stands in the way of their goals. Clearly this college is out of line.
University campuses are supposed to be a place where ideas are exchanged to cause students to use their critical thinking to find their way in life, not to be programmed or short-changed in their options. Students need their space to form their own options and beliefs. Something as stalwart, truthful, sturdy and steadfast as Christianity ought to always be an option for students and all people, for that matter, to have access to learn its instruction for all of life from God’s perspective as applied to practical living. Only fools claim to be smarter than God, this is what has clearly been seen throughout history.
The excuse of diversity as applied to religious beliefs is nothing more than abuse of authority and power to push secular/humanism down people’s throats to supposedly bring in a new world order with no stops, limits or restrictions and pushes God completely out of the picture, or so the god-haters think. Mental and spiritual anarchy always ends up destroying the very goals those people seek and then along comes a generation that will long and hunger for a good structure to life once again and they find spiritual renewal through the God of the Bible because the spirit of humans will always need and eventually cry out to the One who originated and designed them in the first place. He is the essence of true life. Everything outside of him is death and destruction.
In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his schemes there is no God. (Psalm 10:4)
The fool says in his heart, there is no God. (Psalm 14:1)
