We hear much about the topics of national security and prosperity. We are made to believe these are the only two ingredients that are truly important to continue and even to better the American lifestyle. It matters not that we are a nation at war amongst ourselves and in great turmoil. The majority of society wants quick solutions as if it was like writing the script of a play or a movie.
More and more, we hear about the increase of our national challenges. There’s the disillusionment against politicians that continues to grow which causes people to want to seek a saving messiah that promises a magical solution to all that is wrong.
History reveals that no human plan or solution has ever saved a nation from its moral decadence. The contrary is true; human solutions only deepen the pit of destruction and slow a nation down to a crawl if that.
The two dominant political parties have strayed light years away from their foundation. Believe it or not, in their origin, both parties had a similar vision that stuck close to conservative principles and moral values. Among their ranks were exemplary leaders with Christian values that impacted with their excellent ideals.
For a long time, the Republicans projected themselves as a party with solid moral principles and a conservative vision for government. All that integrity has changed radically in the last years because of all the corruption that has come up the ranks.
The Democrats, who also at one time projected themselves as people of moral integrity and leaned toward conservatism in government, have increasingly become under the dominance of liberalism and, what’s worse, they have taken the nation toward socialism.
President Harry Truman confirmed the philosophical position of the Democrats by declaring the following in his presidential inaugural speech on January 20, 1949:
“The American people stand firm in the faith which has inspired this nation from the beginning . . . We believe that all men are created equal because they were created in the image of God. From this faith we will not be moved.”
Needless to say, the Democrats are far away from the party of Truman, they are unrecognizable. The majority laugh in the face of the values that Truman referenced, and they even fight vehemently against them. They are the primary advocates of murdering babies in the mother’s womb. Their definitions of an individual’s sexuality are greatly distorted, and they seek to destroy the ancestral concept of family by exalting homosexual behavior.
There remains no doubt that both parties have distanced themselves from conservative principles and faith in God that in times past inspired everything in this nation.
Our national security, future progress and happiness do not depend on any political party, much less of the rising of a great messianic leader. Our national well-being and progress rests solely on the shoulders of the people of God if they are willing to return to unfeigned faith, without emotionalisms, and certainly not just remain a “Sunday faith” type of people. God needs his people to have a living faith in his Sovereignty for he alone knows and controls the future.
If we read the Bible carefully, we will clearly see that God sets a limit to the immorality he will allow a nation to display. His patience does have a limit. When God sees that his people are not willing to transform culture for the greater good, he will not contend with foolish men forever, so he is left with no other option but to intervene with his righteous judgment.
A perfect example of this is Moses’s warning:
“Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. And if you forget the LORD your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish” (Deut. 8:17–19).
Society worships many gods. Arrogance has an extremely expensive price tag. So, let’s wake up America before it’s too late. This nation is long overdue to humbled itself before God in recognition of its arrogant behavior, especially in over the last 70 plus years.
God is giving us the option to decide; so, our future as a nation is on us, the people of God. Thomas Jefferson understood this well and he left a warning that should not go unheeded by this generation:
“The God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, and that His justice cannot sleep forever.” —Thomas Jefferson
