What people believe or don’t believe about morality does matter in the social makeup of a nation. Morality is never neutral and cannot be hidden from manifesting its fruit; it will produce according to its own kind.
For six thousand years, human history reveals the struggle of humanity to define morality; this was long before the Ten Commandments were given to the nation of Israel or Jesus making his appearance on earth. Man understood long ago that human beings express a range of immoral behavior as the result of the fall of man into sin, and when self-centeredness entered into the human heart.
The world has seen the rise of great civilizations and powerful nations as well as their collapse. Moral decline has always been the determining factor for their destruction. All great nations that died developed tremendous social and international problems; their success blinded people’s reasoning to differentiate between right and wrong, moral and immoral.
American successes have become America’s downfall due to her moral and spiritual decline. Her moral foundations are rapidly being replaced by the immorality that has been sweeping the nation for decades in all areas of life without respecting a person’s age. This tsunami of immorality also engulfs most of the Christian churches that deny the validity of God’s moral law for our time.
Even the liberal Democrat Harry S. Truman (33rd President of the United States from April 12, 1945-January 20, 1953), understood America’s moral foundation when he said at the Attorney General’s Conference on February 15, 1950: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul. I don’t think we emphasize that enough these days. If we don’t have a proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the State!”
On April 3, 1951 Truman stated: “Without a firm moral foundation, freedom degenerates quickly into selfishness and…anarchy. Then there will be freedom only for the rapacious and those who are stronger and more unscrupulous than the rank and file of the people.”
The morals of this nation are so far removed from the original foundation that the only way to reinstate them will be nothing short of a biblical Reformation; anything else is wishful thinking and pink elephants.
President Truman was right, we are rapidly falling into a totalitarian government, which more and more does not believe in the rights for anybody except the State. Those who have the freedoms are the ones who practice, teach, and impose their immoral worldview. Truman saw what Hitler, Mussolini, Hirohito, Stalin, Mao Zedong, did to their nations and that no nation, not even the United States of America, is immune to the effects of violating the standards for living set by Almighty God as revealed in His Word.
Freedom has never worked as a political system unless people practice self-governance and respect God enough to resist the temptation of all that immorality has to offer. The knowledge of God’s morality provides the power and direction for self-worth and duties to his neighbor where people live by the rule that “I am my brother’s keeper” and it is not just a good political speech but also a reality of everyday life.
America has abused and misused her liberties to promote immorality and increased attacks against biblical Christianity, which it is still here to remind the nation of her original biblical foundation and offer a way out to stop this spiral of moral decline. The absence of morality is affecting all of society; unless we do an about face we will crash.
Christian America must take personal responsibility and not get sucked in by all the nefarious political correctness, hate crime, and other social engineering tactics that have been developed by dwarfed minds.
Christian America should not allow itself to be intimidated by the ungodly forces; rather, it must stand and push back with the superior knowledge, understanding and wisdom from God confronting all areas of life and applying its principles. With God nothing is impossible and nothing is impossible to them that believe.
Christianity in America must side with the God of the Bible who clearly reveals: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? ‘I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds’” (Jeremiah 17:9-10). Repentance from wickedness can restore mental sanity and bring the desired well being.
Christians in America have a moral duty to all men in order to strengthen the social character of the nation as we understand, teach and embrace divine moral law.
The moral fiber of America is in the biblical worldview applied in its founding. No other worldview or combination of worldviews will restore her. Let us accept our responsibility as citizens of heaven and earth and charge evil with confidence in Almighty God that He will lead us to victory and out of this unhealthy national delusion and obsession with wealth, power, sex and irrational tolerance.
