In an attempt to solve its economic crisis, the United States of America is increasingly depending on nations that despise us and wish to destroy us for a number of different reasons.

Since these nations have not acquired yet the military might needed to destroy the U.S., they are taking advantage of the weakening in the dollar and are buying it at discounted prices. We should not be surprised if the next panorama includes a huge shake up not only in American society, but the rest of the world too.

I am not revealing some deep secret here. Our politicians in Washington, D.C. know this only too well, especially the ones who have been there the longest. What is worse, they don’t have the courage to make the difficult decisions to correct this impending plunge.

Former congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul (R-Tex.) said it very clearly, “Our country is insolvent, and bankruptcy will come.” In other words, we have no economic solvency to cover the debts. We already know what happens to a person or a family that can’t pay its debts.

The severe problems we face as a nation such as increased cultural depravity, violent aggression toward the Constitution and the atrocious handling of the economy have never been seen before in the history of this country. Added to that list are broken homes and the loss of liberties, especially for Christians.

Potential presidential candidates are beginning to make their rounds so it should not surprise us that people will look for a candidate who can guarantee a return to the American dream instead of the nightmare we have now. These same people, however, are not thinking about the slavery that comes with the package when we give government almost all authority over our lives.

A better economy is not what will bring the solution to the mountain of problems we are being overwhelmed with as a nation. Politicians cannot solve our many national difficulties by human knowledge alone. As a matter of fact, that is precisely what has caused all the problems. The United States’ debt has now surpassed the $18 trillion mark and President Obama has just proposed a $4 trillion spending plan which includes increasing taxes to corporations and so-called wealthy individuals to help pay for his policies and promises.

Legislators are proposing and passing laws as a desperate attempt to stimulate the economy at all levels of society. Never mind that these measures have not rendered positive results in the past. So, what makes them think they will work now? With a very small exception, the majority of our Washington legislators profess a Christian faith. So, ladies and gentlemen of Congress, it is time to pay close attention to the words of the Apostle Paul:

“For it is written, ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.’ Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” (1 Corinthians 1:19-20).

Can this nation survive by merely placing its faith on a strong economy, without regard for the loss of its liberties in the process?

Congress would do well to take a tour of the Capitol building to view the paintings and statues, and do a little research of the historic contributions these men did. Of course, they will need an expert historian tour guide to learn how this nation was truly founded. I can recommend one.

They [Congress] need to pay special attention to the painting depicting the first prayer at the Continental Congress held at Carpenter’s Hall, Philadelphia, on September 7, 1774. Pay close attention to the explanation of why the members of Congress are on their knees while Rev. Jacob Duché offers this historic prayer:

“O Lord, our Heavenly Father, high and mighty, King of kings, and Lord of lords, who dost from Thy throne behold all the dwellers on earth, and reignest with power supreme and uncontrolled over all the Kingdoms, Empires, and Governments; look down in mercy, we beseech Thee, on these our American States, who have fled to Thee from the rod of the oppressor, and thrown themselves on Thy gracious protection, desiring to be henceforth dependent only on Thee; to Thee have they appealed for the righteousness of their cause; to Thee do they now look up for that countenance and support, which Thou alone canst give; take them, therefore, Heavenly Father, under Thy nurturing care; give them wisdom in Council and valor in the field; defeat the malicious designs of our cruel adversaries; convince them of the unrighteousness of their cause; and if they persist in their sanguinary purposes, O! let the voice of Thine own unerring justice, sounding in their hearts, constrain them to drop the weapons of war, from their unnerved hands in the day of battle!

Be Thou present O God of Wisdom and direct the counsel of this Honorable Assembly; enable them to settle all things on the best and surest foundations; that the scene of blood may be speedily closed; that Order, Harmony and Peace may be effectually restored, and the Truth and Justice, Religion and Piety, prevail and flourish among the people. Preserve the health of their bodies, and the vigor of their minds, shower down on them, and the millions they here represent, such temporal Blessings as Thou seest expedient for them in this world, and crown them with everlasting Glory in the world to come. All this we ask in the name and through the merits of Jesus Christ, Thy Son and our Saviour, Amen.” [1]

Once they understand how this nation was born as a result of prayer, then maybe they will go and do the same. They may have to allow an exemption for the non-Christian minority in Congress, so as not to offend and therefore maintain this ridiculous “politically correct” posture (“incorrect” would be more appropriate). Afterwards, they should petition the President, who together with Congress would ask the entire nation to recognize and repent of our debauchery and lack of control before God. Perhaps God will hold back His severe judgment, which He is about to deliver in an inconceivable way.

Bend your knees, legislators. This is the only way we can obtain God’s wisdom to solve all the problems that are overwhelming and sinking us. If we don’t take control of them, they will destroy us.
