“…godless men should not rule or lay snares for the people.” Job 34:30Has mob rule come to America? The desperation of those who opposed a Trump presidency still can’t come to grips with the fact that he won the 2016 presidential election fair and square. So, since President Trump’s election, we have been accosted almost daily by mobs of “Resisters” who still want to overturn the last election through aggressive verbal and physical assaults against Trump supporters. The assaults have been waged not only against the everyday men and women who voted for President Trump, but against Republican legislators and conservatives in public places; in restaurants; at sporting events (where a gunman nearly killed Congressman Steve Scalise). These resisters and dissenters are finding their way even into the halls of Congress and in the very chambers of government. The dissenters are being incited by celebrities, and even some legislators like the very aggressive and outspoken Maxine Waters, who has urged her supporters to harass, and confront their opponents wherever Republicans can be found. The question is, what are Republicans and conservatives going to do to address and confront what has become a descent into mob rule or are we headed for anarchy?
Have the freedoms that Americans enjoyed for so long intoxicated them to where they can no longer distinguish between freedom and anarchy? Have liberty and abundance, which cause complacency and apathy to set in led us into total dependence on government that we are now headed back into the bondage that we freed ourselves from in declaring our independence from the English crown?
The mob rule that is showing its ugly head was very evident in the recent Brett Kavanaugh hearings and confirmation to the Supreme Court. The treatment of him by the ultra-liberal democrats in the Senate is clear they were out to destroy now Justice Kavanaugh at any cost. It was a concerted merciless effort to destroy a good man for purely political reasons. They chose to become a mob against Kavanaugh rather than doing the right thing. Life should have already taught those power-hungry democrats that what goes around comes around and what you sow is what you will reap. Hopefully we will see the results of what they have coming in the next election.
It is definitely a time of reckoning who we are as a country. Do we really believe in the rule of law, or are we just so angry that mob rule will take over the rule of law? We must never let that happen lest full-blown anarchy takes over.
