Betrayed?

Millions of Americans feel betrayed by their Federal Representatives from both Houses with the ever-growing financial chaos and the constant myriads of laws and constant regulations that continue to enslave and drown out every honest and productive citizen. But are they right in feeling betrayed?

Elected officials do not get into office by magic, even though some may get there by fraud. Nevertheless, for the most part citizens must elect them. We have two dominant political parties that share power by alternating the dominance of the Executive Branch and both Houses of Congress that continue to sink the future of this nation into being a thing of the past. So who are the culprits of the growing political, economical and social mess? Who are the ones who have allowed the U.S. Supreme Court to sentence the unborn to death at the mother’s or both parents’ request simply because the child is an inconvenience in their lives?

The Supreme Court gave Congress the responsibility to define when life begins in their ruling of January 1973. Members of Congress come and go and nothing has been done to define when life begins. How hard can it be? In the meantime, close to 60 million children have been murdered and the numbers increase every day in this nation of the “free and the brave”. What a disgrace and mockery to the memory of those millions of children who have lost their lives and the number will continue to grow. So, who is really betraying these innocent lives? Incredibly, citizens, for the most part, are mostly concerned about economics as if nothing else matters at present or in the future.

Election after election people send their federally elected officials to fix things in Washington, D.C., after they promised to do so in their campaign speeches, only to find out they continue to create and increment the national destruction by their heartless and negligent decisions. There are very few honest elected officials who remain loyal to their campaign promises to change things and they find themselves fighting the hungry monster the government has become. This handful of brave men and women deserve our gratitude and support.

By now you know that no matter what corrupt laws the citizens reject from Congress their voices are meaningless. Washington, D.C., is not listening. Only the will of the lords of the land is being carried out. It is a fact that only a hand full of men and women determine the future of over three hundred million people and they call it the will of the people because they were elected by “democratic means,” the same concept the founders condemned and warned would destroy the nation. Their warning was prophetic.

Benjamin Franklin predicted what was going to happen to the experiment of the new government they were establishing. He was not convinced the laws of men placed in the Constitution were perfect, without mistakes, but rather they could create a mess. Two and a half months before the completion of the Constitution took place, in his speech to the Constitutional Convention June 28, 1787 he said:

“In these sentiments, Sir, I agree to this Constitution, with all its faults, — if they are such; because I think a general Government necessary for us, and there is no form of government but what may be a blessing to the people, if well administered; and I believe, farther, that this is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government, being incapable of any other.”

Notice his warning:

The new experiment of government could only work as long as it was “well administered.” Failing to do so would cause it to fall into despotism no different than the old forms of human government throughout history and the one they fought to liberate the colonies from. Despotism, Franklin said, takes place when the people “shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government, being incapable of any other.”

When the great majority of the people fall into corruption, how can they honestly demand an effective civil government? It is the people who create the rise of despotism. Here are some synonyms of despotism: tyranny, dictatorship, absolutism, authoritarianism, and repression. Despotism is forms of government where people give the leadership absolute unrestrained power.

Franklin made it clear that the success of the new form of government depended upon the character and diligence of the American people. It was up to them to control and maintain the civil government.

Has the Constitution worked as it was intended? We have 226 years to evaluate its effectiveness. What is the judgment of history to “We the People”? Has the experiment succeeded or failed? The average American will say it is working, with many challenges but it’s working. The Founding Fathers would say, IT FAILED! Who do you think the Founders would blame for the failure of the Republic and the abuse of the enumerated powers in so many ways? I guarantee you they would not blame the elected corrupted officials but the people who have become very corrupted and incapable of controlling their own government due to their lack of good character and self-government.

The great experiment of this form of government was doomed to fail from the very beginning. Why? Because no great nation has been able to remain in power, security and prosperity base upon men’s laws.

We seriously need to consider the 1620 Mayflower Compact and the form of government the Pilgrims brought to these shores. Their vision of becoming a society under the Government of God, as revealed in the Bible, as the only wise and intelligent way to develop true character and lasting felicity. They are the original society who understood that we must live by and for God’s biblical laws. Failure to recognize and accept this truth is a total guarantee of social chaos and destruction.

The Constitution has many flaws as observed by Benjamin Franklin; he was right since it does not deal with so many of the horrors and revulsions of our society like infanticide, sexual perversions, and so many other corrupt behaviors. It comes as no surprise that corrupt minds find in the “penumbra of the Constitution” all their perverted decisions to impose upon the people and push the nation to the brink of total collapse.

Next time someone says we were betrayed by our elected officials remind them to look in the mirror and examine where corruption begins. Also remind them that Washington, D.C., is not the problem. Corrupt politicians can only occupy those posts by voters placing them there. This means corrupt politicians originated in their home districts all across America. If we do not inspect the worldviews and beliefs of these individuals when they ask us to send them to Washington then we are the ones who have betrayed society. After all, they are from our communities, they have families and have lived among us, they have a history in our communities and we should know all about their mindset.

On a positive note, everything that humans long for is only achievable through God’s law. It is there that we can rebuild our lives, our character and our society. Through God’s law we can learn how to eliminate corruption from our soul and our mind.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward” – Psalm 19:7-11

We truly desperately need a Biblical Reformation!
