“When a man’s ways please the LORD,
he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”
(Proverbs 16:7)
God’s Word is always true. So, I have a question for you. Judging from this verse in Proverbs 16:7, do you think God is pleased with America?
We have recently learned that a Chinese spy balloon that was surveilling American territory was caught and destroyed. There are also rumors that this isn’t the first time this has happened. We also know that through TikTok and other technological means the Chinese are collecting all kinds of data on us and our way of life. Why do you suppose they feel emboldened to do that and what do they plan on doing with all that information on us? The Chinese are also buying up lots of properties, farmland, and businesses in America, what are they planning right under our noses? We know that we owe China a large part of our national debt and that enslaves us to them to a large degree. Why do you suppose that the Chinese are showing such boldness knowing this could provoke us to a strong retaliation. Is taking over America their ultimate goal? If so, why are we and God allowing this to happen so out in the open?
The Chinese are not our only enemies at present. We have enemies pouring into our country through illegal immigration in unprecedented numbers from well over a hundred nations, and we are doing little or nothing to stop this. The intent of far too many of them is not just to seek a better life for themselves and their families. A very significant number are coming to do us harm even if it takes them years to accomplish their goal. They are infiltrating everything in our structure that makes us who we are. Taking advantage of our generosity is only the beginning. They are finding all of our weak links and including them in their sinister plans against us. Why is this happening?
Let us take note that for our “ways” (actions) to be “pleasing to the LORD” is based on us having the right values, principles, attitudes, and motives toward God and applied to actual living. Right actions alone, apart from our love and devotion to him, has never cut it with God. He hasn’t changed, so why have we?
America, like no other nation in history, knows that only pleasing God is how we can count on his blessings and protection from our enemies, both foreign and domestic. We haven’t even mentioned the countless real enemies we already have within. “We have met the enemy, and the enemy is us.”—Oliver Hazard Perry in 1813.
There is only one recourse left for America to survive; we must repent and turn from our wicked ways (2 Chronicles 7:14). God will not be mocked; we are reaping what we have sown (Galatians 6:7). This is the only way to have peace with God so he can give us peace with our enemies.
