White Angels In Congress

The political novice, President Donald J. Trump, delivered his first address to a joint session of Congress on February 28, 2017.  Those who have heard the Presidential addresses to Congress for the last 40 years say Trump’s speech is one of the best in decades. I don’t go back that far, but I have heard some for a little over 30 years, and I don’t recall such a clear vision given for the future of the nation.

Trump’s statements in support of middle-class American families and workers were very persuasive. The plans to liberate people who are trapped in urban violence was not a political pep talk but the heartfelt urgency to crush the “plantation” created by evil political interests. His unwavering support for law and order and the military left no doubt in anyone’s mind of what is important to him. Also, there was the unforgettable Trump tribute to Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens and his widow Carryn; the standing ovation lasted 2 minutes.  It was hard to hold back our tears of gratitude along with those of the widow who is a very brave woman.

Overall, the majority of Democrats were unprepared for Trump’s successful speech; we saw it on their shocked faces, their body language and how, at the end, we witnessed their stampede out of the joint session. In analyzing the President’s message, you would think the Democrats could easily have embraced it, because most of what Trump proposed was his vision for a united nation that the Democrats have been preaching since they became a political party. However, they only mean it if they have the power to do things their traditional failed way.  All the social evidence of those failed policies is against the Democrats, and now, the hard left dominates all of them who adhere to that ideology.  They will continue to promote their lies about being able to create paradise on earth on the backs of the hard working and productive people.

Many of the Democrat ladies in the joint session were dressed in white; they looked like a choir, and obviously by dressing that way they wanted to make a statement against President Trump. The message of the ladies in white was a big lie related to Trumps’ threat to women rights. As expected, the women in white were making reference to those who want to keep their freedom for killing their unborn child, never mind if that child is a girl. Why doesn’t the unborn child have the right to life? Can’t the “Christian Democrats” see the evil agenda of their political party?

I call them “angels in white” but not for the reasons many may think, rather in the context of the apostle Paul as he uses it: “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds” 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 (ESV).

Anyone projecting goodness or false worldviews should be easily recognized under the light of God’s truth, which is the only authority to reveal right from wrong, and light from darkness. Biblical Christians should process every idea in the marketplace through the grid of the Word of God, not in a fanatical way but with eagerness to learn and grow in wisdom.  Of course, not everyone needed to dress in white to hide his or her evil nature. The apostle Paul is right in saying that not everyone who proclaims to work for social justice does it in true righteousness. The responsibility for sorting out what is the true light of knowledge and wisdom falls upon no one else but us, the Christian believers.

Before we think too highly of ourselves and that we are on the right side of life let us be sure we pass the test. Here is a good way to test ourselves:

Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. 1 John 3:8-10 (ESV)

The good news for us is that we have a way to make our life right with God when we know we are in the wrong: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9 (ESV).

While we should never consider ourselves superior to anyone, this is never a pass to point out those in error. Our loyalty is not to a political party, a politician, a church denomination or anything created, our loyalty is only to God’s principles as revealed in His Word. We must never be like the three monkeys that, “see nothing, hear nothing, or say nothing”, so, let us be watchful, processing what we hear and speaking against all wrongs and praise all that is done right.

Let us beware of false white angels everywhere!
